One of the best ways to spend time with our kids is by having a big arts and crafts session. And the perfect theme for this is.. Valentine’s Day! What a great way for them to learn about this special day of love and giving that by showing them different ways in expressing themselves through homemade art. Here are some ideas to get you started!

  • Heart Stamps Craft HK

    Toilet Paper Roll Heart Stamps

    Easy Valentine's Day Crafts

    You will need:

    • Card Paper
    • Toilet Paper Roll
    • Red Paint
    • A Piece Of Tape

    What to do:

    1. Have your kids take the toilet roll and push it around the table like you would roll out dough to help flatten the sides.
    2. Push one crease inward to make a heart
    3. Wrap a piece of tape around the tube to help the heart hold it’s shape.
    4. Pour a little red paint on a plate and dipped one end in the paint.
    5. Have your kids stamp it on cardboard papers or envelopes!

    Easy Valentine's Day Crafts

    You will need:

    • Construction paper (have your kids pick out lots of different colors!)
    • String
    • Stapler
    • One piece hole puncher (but using a 2 hole puncher is fine!)
    • Scissors (remember to assist your little ones if they will be cutting on their own)

    What to do:

    1. Cut paper into one-inch strips length wise.
    2. Fold paper strip in half and crease.
    3. Bend the loose ends of your folded strip towards the middle and pull down (forming a heart shape) and staple into place.
    4. Using a single hole punch, cut through the middle and each side of the heart.
    5. Thread finished hearts onto string to create your garland.

    You will need:

    • Red/orange/yellow construction paper
    • Black construction paper
    • 2 small googly eyes
    • Scissors
    • Glue

    Note:

    To make the ladybug card you will need 1 red folded heart, 1 black head, 2 black antennae (2 strips and 2 small circles) and 6 black spots.

    What to do:

    1. To make the folded heart, fold a small square sized piece of red construction paper in half.
    2. Draw a heart shape. Trace the outer part except for the folded area.
    3. Cut 2 strips of antennae from black paper.
    4. Cut 9 circles - 1 large, and 8 smaller sized ones.
    5. Ask your child to glue the bits to form the ladybug.
    6. Glue 2 small googly eyes on the face.
    7. Don't forget to write a note inside to a loved one!

    You will need:

    • Lollipops or Dum Dums
    • Construction Paper (any color!)
    • Scissors
    • Markers/color pencils

    What to do: 

    1. Cut out construction paper into a shape of a square.
    2. Fold it and draw one side of a butterfly from the folded area (a large wing, and a small wing - you can include an antennae as well!)
    3. Cut out the butterfly and on the very middle of the folded bit, make 2 small cuts (about a 1cm long - this will serve as your holder for the lollipop!)
    4. Your kids can now decorate their butterfly any way they'd like and don't forget to write a message.

    You will need:

    • Cupcake liners
    • Heart stickers (if you don't have any, you can use construction paper)
    • Popsicle Sticks
    • White Glue

    What to do:

    1. Glue cupcake liner on top of the popsicle stick.
    2. If using stickers, stick the heart sticker in the middle of the cupcake liner.
    3. If using construction paper, cut small heart shapes on any color and glue on the cupcake liner.
    4. Kids can use markers to color or decorate the popsicle stick any way they'd like!

    You will need:

    • A paper plate
    • Pink pipe cleaner (or string)
    • Pink paper
    • Red paper
    • Scissors
    • Glue

    What to do:

    1. Cut out the middle of the paper plate.
    2. Make a hole on the top of the plate and pass the pipe cleaner in.
    3. Cut out 6 pink hearts and 6 red hearts.
    4. Kids can help glue hearts one by one to the plate.
    5. Hang on doors, windows, anywhere!

    You will need:

    • Large Paper Plate
    • Tissue Paper
    • Black Cardstock
    • Various Sized Heart Stickers
    • Glue
    • Scissors
    • Stapler
    • optional a picture of your child/family member

    What to do:

    1. First cut your tissue paper into small squares, let the kids practice their cutting skills if they'd like.
    2. Take your paper plate and put a good amount of glue all over the remainder paper plate piece.
    3. Have the kids place the tissue paper on top of the glue, until the paper plate piece is completely covered.
    4. Cut out the other hot air balloon features from the cardstock. I did a basket with two strips for the rope that ties the basket to the balloon.
    5. Staple/glue the cardstock pieces in their designated spots on the paper plate
    6. If you'd like to glue a photo on the hot air balloon, this is when you can do it.
    7. Cover the paper plate portion in heart stickers or draw a picture

    You will need: 

    • Colored cardstock paper
    • Scissors
    • Your child's hands
    • Markers and pens

    What to do:

    1. Fold your paper over before tracing.
    2. Then you need to trace your child's hand so that the pinky finger is close to the folded part of your paper.
    3. Finish drawing the bottom of your handprint and cut it out.
    4. Make small cut-outs of hearts to decorate the card or your child can choose whatever they'd like to do.

    You will need:

    • A paper plate
    • Green and Brown paint
    • Red construction paper
    • Brown construction paper
    • Pink cardstock
    • White glue
    • Toilet paper roll

    What to do:

    1. Paint your paper roll brown and your paper plate green.
    2. Fold over a piece of pink cardstock and draw half of a heart on the folded side. Cut out your heart.
    3. Trace your child's handprint and part of the arm on brown construction paper. Glue this to your heart.
    4. Cut 2 slits in the bottom of your paper towel roll and glue this to your paper plate.
    5. Cut out different sizes of small hearts from red paper. Glue these to the heart part of your tree. You can do this before or after gluing the whole handprint to the paper roll.

    You will need:

    • Red construction paper
    • Black marker
    • Googly eyes
    • Cardboard or cardstock
    • Red paint (if there's no paint available, use a large red crayon)
    • Scissors
    • Glue

    What to do:

    1. Draw one large heart and 2 smaller hearts on the cardboard.
    2. Paint the large and small hearts red.
    3. Cut two strips out of red construction paper and fan-fold it to use as arms.
    4. Cut out the three hearts after it dries.
    5. Glue the googly eyes on the large heart and ask your child to draw a mouth with the marker.
    6. Glue the small hearts at the bottom of the red strips.
    7. Finally, glue the arms to the large heart.
