Most Hong Kongers love a trip to Lamma – the idyllic traffic-free island where a fresh seafood lunch is always on the cards. To really feel like you’ve earned those garlic prawns and egg fried rice, the Lamma Island Family Trail will ensure the whole family works up an appetite. The easygoing walk begins near Yung Shue Wan ferry piers – simply walk past Lamma Winds and Hung Shing Yeh Beach to find the start of the Family Trail then wander along the paved coastal path, past beaches and fishing boats and even Kamikaze Cave, from where Japanese forces occupying Hong Kong during the Second World War launched sea missions, to end in the fishing village of Sok Kwu Wan, home to a number of popular stilted seafood restaurants.
The Lamma Island Family Trail is easy to access and with a seafood lunch on the menu at the end of the hike you can make a day trip of it to this picturesque island.
A fun family day outdoors for all.
From Sok Kwu Wan there is a ferry back to Central. Alternatively the Ling Kok Shan Hiking Trail will return walkers via a slightly hillier route to Yung Shue Wan.
Take the ferry from Central Pier 4 to Yung Shue Wan on Lamma Island.
