The eagerly anticipated Water Sports and Recreation Precinct (the Precinct) Phase 4 in Wan Chai is now open! By completing the final phase of the Precinct, the entire area will extend the Island North promenade to an impressive nine kilometers, seamlessly connecting Kennedy Town and Fortress Hill. Check out the map here for some fun stops and landmarks along the way!
Situated on Hung Hing Road, Wan Chai, the Precinct offers a captivating north-facing view of Victoria Harbour and encompasses a sprawling 1.7-hectare area.
One of the highlights of the Precinct is the two retired East Rail Line Mid-Life Refurbishment train cars, affectionately known as “Fly Head” trains, donated by the MTR Corporation Limited. These transformed train cars retain elements of their original features, providing the public with an opportunity to reminisce about the cherished “Fly Head” trains of the past. Visitors can also make use of a versatile multipurpose room, ideal for hosting workshops, exhibitions, and various activities. The new venue boasts an array of amenities, including a stepped train platform, a viewing deck, a circular multipurpose square, artificial turf, shading facilities, and a glowing pathway.
Getting there:
Visitors can enjoy a leisurely five-minute stroll from the Wan Chai Ferry Pier along Hung Hing Road, or take a brief walk from Exit A2 of the MTR Exhibition Centre Station. Another option is a nine-minute walk from Exit C of the MTR Causeway Bay Station, utilizing the footbridge at Canal Road West. The Precinct is open 24 hours a day, while the “Fly Head” trains are tentatively open from 10 am to 10 pm. Moreover, the Precinct embraces a pet-friendly policy, allowing visitors to bring their beloved pets along on leashes. For a detailed map of how to get there, click here.
